A mother who reported her own daughter to police after suspecting her of involvement in the London riots wept yesterday after a court refused to grant the teenager bail.

Chelsea Ives, 18, who was an Olympic ambassador, allegedly threw bricks at a police car during violence in Enfield on Sunday 7 August.
Yesterday as the promising athlete was remanded in custody at Highbury Magistrates Court, her mother Adrienne wept uncontrollably.
Miss Ives, of Leytonstone, east London, allegedly boasted that she had had "the best day ever", following the riots.
But after watching a report of the disturbances on the news, her mother contacted the police to say she believed her daughter had been involved.
She previously described her decision to hand her daughter over as "gut wrenching" but insisted she had only done what any "honest" parent would do.

Miss Ives is accused of leading an attack on a Vodafone store and suspected of being involved in a mob attack on Phones4U, the mobile telephone company.
She has denied two counts of burglary, a charge of violent disorder and another of attacking a police car.
She is due to appear before Highbury Magistrates court again on September 7.
Meanwhile a mother facing eviction from her council flat after her teenage son was accused of involvement in the riots also broke down in court as he was refused bail.
Daniel Sartain-Clarke, of Battersea, was remanded in custody at a hearing at South Western Magistrates' Court in London.
His case hit the headlines after his mother Maite de Calva, 43, became the first person to be handed an eviction notice by her local authority as a result of the allegations made against her son.
Miss de Calva refused to comment after yesterday’s hearing.
Mr Sartain-Clarke has remained in custody since being arrested during the rioting which spread through Clapham last week.
He has been charged with violent disorder and burglary with intent to steal from a branch of the electrical chain, Currys.
He denies all the charges and will appear before Inner London Crown Court on September 6.
